ONE YEAR OF WEIRDNESS: MARTIAN MIGRAINE PRESS CELEBRATES A BIRTHDAY
0March 14th will mark the first anniversary of our initial book launch, S R Jones’ subtly disturbing collection of horror shorts SOFT FROM ALL THE BLOOD. In the year since, we’ve released eight more books: the first and second titles in Justine G’s BLACKSTONE Erotica series, as well as a BLACKSTONE Erotica short; her sci-fi gonzo erotica novella ORGY IN THE VALLEY OF THE LUST LARVAE; and her highly experimental steampunk and Victorian erotica mash-up SEAWATER & STARS: The Last Novel of Gideon Stargrave, written in collaboration with S R Jones and Gideon Stargrave (the “fiction suit” of comics writer and all-round Pop Culture uber-sorcerer Grant Morrison). Not to mention the two poetry collections we’ve spawned into the world, namely skawt chonzz’s R’LYEH SUTRA and the eclectic, electrifying ANTHROPOCALYPSE NOW by shayne avec i grec and Johnny Macrae (aka 2 Dope Boys In A Cadillac).
Yes, it’s been a busy year. We’ve sold some books, made some friends, and learned a lot. We’re in a celebratory mood, natch! And passing that mood along to you, the loyal Martian Migraine Press reader, with some nifty and titillating specials!
First off, we’re offering three of our more popular MMP titles FREE FOR FIVE DAYS! Pick up S R Jones’ SOFT FROM ALL THE BLOOD, Justine G’s ORGY IN THE VALLEY OF THE LUST LARVAE, or the disturbing poetic vibrations of skawt chonzz’s R’LYEH SUTRA for absolutely no money at all from Thursday March 14 through to Monday March 18, either from their links on Amazon HERE or from the limited-time links below! Simply click on the covers!

Second, to celebrate our first anniversary as Canada’s weirdest, most niche-market micro-micro e-press, Martian Migraine Press is pleased to present our first GIANT-SIZED ANNUAL, featuring fiction, poetry, and movie and book reviews from our own stable of thoroughly transgressive and intensely interesting authors and a few of their friends besides! Fiction by Kenton Hall, Justine G, S R Jones! Poetry by shayne avec i grec and skawt chonzz! A full MMP Cover Gallery and a passel of insightful book and movie reviews! And yes, the Annual is FREE too, for the same days. After that, it’s only 0.99, which is still a ridiculous steal! Link to its Amazon page HERE for a shockingly instantaneous download to your Kindle or Kindle-enabled device or download other e-reader formats from its MMP page HERE.
And speaking of things that are only 0.99 (hey, it’s like a Macklemore song up in heah!), we’re taking a third, migraine-inducing step towards some kind of celebratory meltdown and dropping every other MMP title to that price not only for the 14th through 18th, but for the rest of March! Madness! But hey, it’s what we’re about. The madness. So, we’re cool. We’re cool with it.
As always, we welcome reviews and stars and any generally awesome behaviour surrounding our authors and their books, so please, don’t be shy! Leave a comment, pepper our publishing firmament with shining stellar matter, and let other readers know what you thought of the MMP reading experience. And again, thanks for reading with Martian Migraine Press!

The Numbers: Halloween Promo Breakdown! Also, Author Projects and MECHANICALS
0This was our biggest free Kindle book promotion yet and we’ve only just now sat down to tally the results. Over the course of five days, from October 28 through to Thursday November 1, we gave away four of our current titles, to a dollar amount of $1900. Gah. It’s enough to give a body the vapours. Here’s the breakdown, homies…
Soft From All The Blood by S R Jones — 249 copies
Green Fever Dream (Book 2 BLACKSTONE Erotica) by Justine G — 242 copies
Summonings: Anicka and Kamil (a BLACKSTONE Erotica short) by Justine G — 287 copies
R’lyeh Sutra by skawt chonzz — 157 copies
Perhaps obviously, the most downloads went to MMP erotica titles, and, perhaps even more obviously, Justine’s short Summonings: Anicka and Kamil did better business than her longer form smutty novella Green Fever Dream. We think the difference between the two books comes down to the cover graphics: plenty of bare skin and nice lingerie on the Summonings cover v. full latex kink scuba gear on Green Fever Dream. That, and length. It’s always about the length. Yeah, yeah. Jokers. Well, thanks to our graphic design department for at least staying somewhat faithful to the contents of each book. The BLACKSTONE characters need those goddamn scuba masks at the end!
As always, if you’ve downloaded and have enjoyed or are currently enjoying any of the above titles, won’t you please pop on by the Amazon page for said titles, click on the Like button (won’t take a second!) and leave a review? Reviews may take a few more seconds, possibly even a minute or five. Such small temporal sacrifices are greatly appreciated!
In other news, as we slowly ooze on into December expect a little less activity from our authors as they devote their collective hours to new projects. Jones is in the early stages of his non-fiction When The Stars Are Right: Towards An Authentic R’lyehian Spirituality, as well as pumping out short stories for MMP and (gasp!) other publishers, while Justine is working on two new BLACKSTONE shorts, the third book in the BLACKSTONE series, Yellow Sign Bound, and a stand alone sci-fi/horror erotica short tentatively titled ORGY IN THE VALLEY OF THE LUST LARVAE! There’s even skitterings from skawt recently regarding the release of another dark poetry chapbook…
Finally, we’d like to mention that long-time friend of the show and kick-ass author/holy man Jordan Stratford has a new steampunk book out: MECHANICALS. Folks, we here at MMP were treated to the ARC of Mechanicals months back and we can conclusively state that this? This is an amazing, full-tilt read with engaging characters and an aromatic plot. Right now it’s at the introductory price of $2.99 but that’s only for the next three weeks, we’re told, so if you’re hankering for some para-historical derring-do, now’s the time to hit up Stratford for Mechanicals!

Poetry for People from Other Planets — R’LYEH SUTRA
0Martian Migraine Press is pleased to announce that an electronic edition of R’LYEH SUTRA by reclusive West Coast writer and spoken word artist skawt chonzz will soon be available. Originally limited to a run of 50 physical chapbooks from Martian Migraine Press and never to appear in print again, this very collectible collection of weird poetry, strange prose and Austin Spare-like artwork is sure to please those with a taste for the macabré and surreal.
Recalling Spicer and Burroughs, these are poems that explore the shifting, fractal edge of madness, that question the nature of identity, consciousness and language, and do it all with wry humour spliced with a species of alien sexuality. As the title implies, there is an obviously Lovecraftian occult inspiration to the work: in fact, the original, physical run of the book contained, in the form of an insert, a portion of a large hand-written document received in a brutal channeling session from an ultra-terrestrial entity, which chonzz experienced in the spring of 2011. Each copy is therefore utterly unique, a facet of a whole that perhaps should never be viewed in its entirety, and likely never will. This electronic edition seeks to replicate that reading experience with hidden links to previously unreleased segments of that occult document.
To be released (DRM-free and in multiple formats) in May 2012.
