An Embarrassment of Lovecraftian Goodies

0

Ladies and ghouls, Migraineers of all ages, shapes, and oneiric frequencies: is this not a glorious time to be alive? Do we, as consumers of weird media, not paddle, nay, SWIM, in a deep lake, no! pounding cataract, wait! a vast boiling sea of cosmic horror goodness? Can any age previous to ours come close to the variety and sheer creative joi de vivre of the current crop of weird fictioneers producing films, audio dramas, animations, comics, and lest we forget, actual books? Filled with readable stories, even? We here at MMP HQ say “no”. No age can compare, and so we invite you not to try, because your time is valuable. Instead, relax, and know that we sit on the crinkly fractal edge of a golden age, pushing forward into unheard of terrors and wonders! Ours is an embarrassment of riches.

Yup. It’s pretty cool.

For instance, just take a look at this widdle old screenshot from Amazon.com …

Why, yes, well spotted! That is our own Cthulhusattva: Tales of the Black Gnosis, sitting cheek by jowl with Paula Guran’s weighty and wonderful Mammoth Book of Cthulhu and the slow literary burn of the Lovecraft eZine’s Autumn Cthulhu (edited by the redoubtable Mike Davis), its pages redolent with the aroma of woodsmoke and existential despair. These, friends and readers, are the books that discerning Lovecraftian tastemakers BUY TOGETHER! And, it should be noted, at a not insignificant total cost. That’s 40 bucks and change American! Our Canuck brainmeats boggle at the exchange rate. What a thing!

It’s clear to us, as items like this come to our attention, and as we thrill to unprecedented sales of Cthulhusattva, that you like (maybe even love?) what you’re reading, from our humble press and that of others, and we here at MMP HQ feel that such naked joy and enthusiasm for all things R’lyehian and weird in general should be rewarded. So, as a small token of our own appreciation, we present to you the following FREE OFFER…

If you’ve purchased, through Amazon, a copy (physical or digital) of Cthulhusattva: Tales of the Black Gnosis, along with one or more of the books above (or indeed any other suitably Cthulhu-riffic tome or tomes), simply forward an electronic copy of your Amazon digital receipt to bookstore@martianmigrainepress.com and we will gift you with a random MMP ebook in the format of your choice. We’re going to leave this offer open until August 31, 2017.

It’s our way of saying thank you. Thank you for being weird, for reading, for putting your money where your passions are, and above all, for Keeping It R’lyeh.

Stay tuned to this space for new of our themed anthology for 2017! Submission guidelines will be posted before the week is out!

Cthulhusattva ToC Announcement

0

Is there wisdom in insanity? Enlightenment in blackest despair? Higher consciousness in the depths of chaos? These are the questions we asked of authors who submitted stories to the Martian Migraine Press anthology for 2016. And we here at MMP, along with project editor Scott R Jones, are thrilled to announce that the book (after many months of work, and nearly 400 stories read) is finally complete. With cover art by Alix Branwyn, the groundbreaking novella by Ruthanna Emrys, The Litany of Earth, and stories from some of the finest established writers working in Weird Fiction today, along with several new and exciting voices, Cthulhusattva: Tales of the Black Gnosis, releases officially on Monday May 23, 2016, with pre-orders soon available. Keep watching this space, follow MMP on Twitter @MartianMigraine, and of course Like us on Facebook for updates, contests, and author interviews.

In the meantime, enjoy our editors’ meditative antics as he announces the roster of writers that will fill the pages of Cthulhusattva. Or spare yourself some appalling amateur theatre and drop below the video for the full ToC. It should be noted that the story order for the anthology as it appears here is not yet finalized, but it’s very close. (Every day we be shufflin’ as we Keep It R’lyeh at MMP HQ!)

ToC Announced for RESONATOR: New Lovecraftian Tales From Beyond

3

We won’t sugarcoat it, Migraineers… the selection process for our annual anthology this year was a grueling one. Our eyeballs bled some, our pineal glands require some form of etheric massage (so if you’ve got a line on that, or you know a guy, give us a call, please!) and we are this close to never wanting to read another manuscript again! But, the slush pile, which once held just under 150 stories, has been plumbed, sifted, agonized over, and finally reduced to the 17 stories (including that one by Mr Lovecraft, because it would be weird not to include the story that inspired the anthology, right? Right) which will appear in RESONATOR: New Lovecraftian Tales From Beyond! And, as an early Christmas present, here, in alphabetical order (because we haven’t yet worked out the kinks in the story order yet) are the fine authors (some new, some old, all preternaturally cool) who will be appearing in the book (due in paperback and ebook formats in March 2015)…

Machine Will Start When You Are Start — Matthew M. Bartlett
IPO — Darrin Brightman
Bug Zapper — Richard Lee Byers
Infernal Attractors — Cody Goodfellow
Programmed To Receive — Orrin Grey
Parasitosis — Lyndsey Holder
Turbulence — Scott R Jones
Deresonator — Leeman Kessler
From Beyond — H P Lovecraft
Resonator Superstar! — Anya Martin
Ninesight — Christine Morgan
The Happiness Machine — Edward Morris
The Wizard of OK — Scott Nicolay
Professor Hilliard’s Electric Lantern — Robert J. Santa
The Divide — Damir Salkovic
Film Maudit — Christopher Slatsky
Satori — Rodney Turner

With stunning psychedelic cover artwork by the inestimable Nick Gucker, RESONATOR: New Lovecraftian Tales From Beyond will be a book you’ll want to place face-out on your shelves! Watch this space for more details and make sure to also follow Martian Migraine Press on Facebook and Twitter @MartianMigraine as we inch ever closer to that terrible moment when we throw the industrial-grade knife-switch on this puppy!
